Central midfield targets
We are again today linked with two Arsenal central midfielders and everyone can see this is the area Moyes wishes to strengthen , which hopefully everyone here has agreed is our weak area . However with so many different targets supposedly being identified I truely hope we buy quality. The main rumours so far surround the following players ;
Nzonzi
Arter
Shelvey
Allen
Elneny
Coquelin
Carvalho

So fellow hammers which of the above would you be excited about signing and which leave you slightly disappointed ?

A sad state of affairs but everyone in my book would walk into our central midfield and improve it !

Out of that list if we get Carvalho and Nzozi then I will be excited. I have also stated that I think Arter would be a good signing.

I like Joe Allen but not sure where he would fit in as he's more creative.

The others no.

Looks like a lazy Express paper hack has read the bollocks on here about Shelvey and decided to print that we're interested at £12m.

It'll be Fellaini then we'll have the hairy strikers.

Re: Central midfield targets
Just like with our magic striker game where we pin names toma spinning bird and chuck darts at it to find out who to bid for, the thing I don’t get about this is that all of those players are very different. Surely we need to say ‘we need a holding midfielder’ or ‘we need more pace in the middle’ and match targets to our requirements?

Nzonzi is a player, I'm suspicious of Carvalho, why on earth hasn't someone else snapped him up? Something is amiss there. Coquelin might not be terrible.

Re: Central midfield targets
Carvalho & Coquelin id take

The rest I dont believe will improve the quality within our squad alot. Id rather put some faith in Cullen or Oxford as a ermerging DM then waste money on bang average footballers that dont contribute alot like Arter/Allen/Shelvey etc....

Lets either pick up a bargain or invest in some promising emerging talent

I reckon Carvalho's price tag is probably putting everyone off him. I'd like him, but not for the money that's been suggested.

Why are folk still mentioning carvalho? Surely that ship sailed months ago after Sullivan's fucking stupid antics.

Lee Trundle 11:00 Tue Jan 9
Re: Central midfield targets
Well, he's still at Sporting so that ship hasn't sailed far at all.

Lee. Wjat do you care about the cost of him its not your money or mine so why give a fuck. If they can shell out get him in. Couldn't care less what he costs. Same as I didn't when they bought Arnie

Carvalho is the only next level player on the original list.

Shame it's all a lie about him, as otherwise he'd already be here.

Jonjo Shelvey?! I do hope not

"Lee. Wjat do you care about the cost of him its not your money or mine so why give a fuck"

Because with a massively inflated transfer fee, comes massively inflated expectations from our support.

I have no doubt he'll improve our midfield, but I doubt he'll fulfill people's expectations of being a £30m+ player, and will constantly be criticised.

I play on an oldboys team on saturdays, for fun ofc.

We have a player that reminds me so much of Kouyate.
Give him the ball, and you are certain you will have to win it back from the opposition. And he never keeps his place, running around like a headless chicken
